Portal

Here you can find a list of writing-related links that I use sometimes and you may find useful. Here is the place where you'll find the links to access my writer friends' homepages, as well.

Book-related links
Fiction by Genre in Wikipedia
This is a very useful link if you want to know more about each different fiction genre.

Internet Book Database
Basically, it's just a version of IMDb for books.

Writing-related links
It's Just a Phase by Lazette Gifford
A very helpful article you may want to read before starting a new piece of writing.

PubYe Plan Tracks by National Novel Publishing Year
This is a very great way of planning how are you going to direct your writing, if you have problems to stick with a constant writing plan.

Seventh Sanctum
Seventh Sanctum is a great website that will help you find the perfect name for everything: from characters names, to spells, cities, organizations, weapons and whatever more you can imagine!

Vision by Forward Motion for Writers
The link will direct you to an archive with lots and lots of useful articles for writers.

Write or Die by Dr Wicked
Quite useful for those moments when you just can't focus on your writing because of Facebook, Twitter or an annoying writer's block.

Writing Workshops by Holly Lisle
Contrary to Vision, this link will direct you to a list of writing workshops, combining both articles and exercises to help you improve your writing skills.

Writing Challenges
National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo)
Who never heard about NaNoWriMo before? How many of you have attempted to win it? I did in 2009 and I was terrible. Don't know if I'm going to participate next year.

National Novel Editing Month (aka NaNoEdMo)
After the crazyness of NaNoWriMo it's time for more crazyness: instead of writing, though, you'll spend the month editing all the silly stuff you wrote during November!

April Fools
A personal favourite of mine! Not as crazy as NaNoWriMo, the concept is the same, though. However, you're free to choose how many words you want to write.

National Novel Writing Year (WriYe)
As you can guess by the name, this one is a year-long challenge. However, almost all the words you write during the year count: challenges, essays, blogs, everything, as long as you just keep writing! And there are great challenges during the year to help you boost your word count. Plus: the community at the forums is superb! I have never missed a year since I started in 2009!

Writer Friends
Elyon Somniare
A law student and one of my best friends. She's an amazingly awesome writer and someone I admire. Most of her work is Portuguese, but you can find some English fiction among her stories. Her style of writing can be described as really dark (sometimes) and close to reality.

Nereids
My ultimate best friend, she's the one who's always there for me. Along the years she has been responsible to support my up and down writing moments (mostly down, unfortunately) and making me stick with it. She only writes one style of fiction, which is young adult/romance. However, she's really good at it and has a legion of fans following her on FictionPress.Com.

Sofia Lemos da Costa
She's one of my oldest friends and a great writer, too. Even though she's Portuguese, her English is close to perfectness, since she spent a year abroad studing in the USA. Like me, she writes a little bit of everything: from romance, life, fantasy, drama, poems... Just check her out, you won't be disappointed!
